How to Get Your Marriage License in Yavapai County (Step-by-Step)

JUAN DE NIZ • 9 October 2025

Getting married in Yavapai County? Congratulations! Before you say “I do,” you’ll need a marriage

license. Here’s a simple step-by-step guide to make the process smooth and stress-free.

Step 1: Visit the Clerk of the Superior Court - Marriage licenses in Yavapai County are issued by the

Clerk of the Superior Court. Offices are located in Prescott and Camp Verde, so you can choose the

one that’s closest.

Step 2: Both Partners Must Be Present - You and your future spouse must appear together in person.

Bring valid government-issued photo IDs (driver’s license, passport, etc.).

Step 3: Complete the Application - The clerk will provide a marriage license application. It’s

straightforward: basic details like names, ages, and places of birth.

Step 4: Pay the Fee - The marriage license fee is currently $83 (cash, money order, or credit card

accepted). Fees may change, so check the Yavapai County Clerk’s website for the latest.

Step 5: Receive Your License - Once approved, you’ll get your marriage license right away. No waiting

period — you can marry the same day if you’d like!

Step 6: Have an Officiant Perform the Ceremony - Arizona requires a licensed officiant to perform the

ceremony and sign your license. This is where I come in — I provide simple, professional 10–15 minute

ceremonies to make your marriage official.

Step 7: Return the License - After the ceremony, your officiant will sign the license. You must return it to

the Clerk’s office (your officiant can help you with this). Once filed, you can request certified copies for

your records.

Pro tip: If you want help navigating the paperwork, I offer a Marriage License Guidance Service to make

sure nothing gets overlooked.

Why a Simple Wedding Ceremony Might Be Perfect for You

Planning a wedding doesn’t have to mean months of stress, huge expenses, or a complicated guest

list. For many couples, a simple wedding ceremony is the perfect way to focus on love, not logistics.

Here’s why a smaller, straightforward ceremony might be right for you:

1. Stress-Free & Relaxed - Big weddings can feel overwhelming. A short 10–15 minute ceremony lets

you skip the chaos and enjoy the moment — no timelines, no pressure, just love.

2. Budget-Friendly - Traditional weddings can cost thousands of dollars. Choosing a simple officiant-led

ceremony keeps costs down while still giving you a meaningful, beautiful experience.

3. Intimate & Personal - Smaller ceremonies allow you to share your vows in a more private, heartfelt

way. Whether it’s just the two of you, or a handful of loved ones, it’s all about connection.

4. Flexible Locations - Want to say “I do” in your backyard, a Cottonwood park, or a scenic Sedona

overlook? A simple ceremony makes it easy to choose a place that’s special to you.

5. Customized to You - Even if it’s short, your ceremony can still reflect your values and style. Add

personal vows, keep it traditional, or blend English and Spanish to include everyone.

At the end of the day, a wedding doesn’t need to be big to be unforgettable. Sometimes the most

powerful moments are the simplest ones
